Diagnostic Nanotools develops new diagnostic tools. In 2022, we worked in the context of projects DTS20/00093 and LCF/TR/CC21/52490005 Consolidate, funded by ISCIII and La Caixa, to develop a synthetic reagent to replace erythrocytes in classical haemagglutination assays used worldwide to track flu epidemics. This product detects several influenza virus types and can be mass produced for global distribution. Over 2023, we will transfer this technology to a company. Besides, we worked in the context of project AC21_2/00021 QUPID EuroNanoMed to produce point-of-care diagnostic devices for fast, simple and quantitative detection of malaria. Among others, we showed that assay automation using paper devices provides efficient biomarker detection with little user intervention. Finally, in project PID2020-118904RB-C22 RETOS, in collaboration with researchers at the National Microelectronics Centre, we are developing a device for digital ultrasensitive detection of respiratory infections.
